IMPORTANT AUTO INSURANCE INFORMATION

Most people don’t take the time to understand their automobile insurance until it is too late. We are taking this opportunity to give you extremely important information regarding any and all automobile insurance currently providing coverage to you or your household members. Automobile insurance in New Jersey involves different types of coverage depending on the type of “threshold” that you have. There are two kinds of thresholds. One is known as the “verbal or limitation on lawsuit” and the other is known as the “zero or no limitation on lawsuit” threshold.

If you did not specifically elect the “zero or no limitation on lawsuit” option when purchasing or renewing your auto insurance, you probably have the “verbal or limitation on lawsuit” threshold. What this means is that unless you have very serious and/or permanent injuries listed by statute, you may not be able to recover for pain and suffering or emotional distress suffered as the result of an automobile accident or pedestrian knockdown. It doesn’t matter that you have what is often referred to by many people as “full coverage”, or that the accident was entirely someone else’s fault. A judge could throw your case out of court.

Contact your Auto Insurance Agent or Company and find out what type of threshold or option you purchased. Inquire as to how much more per year it would cost to purchase the “zero / no limitation on lawsuit” option. This could mean the difference between having the ability to recover compensation in the event you, or certain household relatives, are injured or killed.

Likewise, find out how much UM/UIM coverage you have. This is extremely important. UM/UIM stands for Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist coverage. This amount reflects how much you can recover under your policy in the event you are injured by someone that is uninsured, or underinsured. This is extremely important in the event you are involved in an accident with someone having no insurance, or very little coverage. Your UM/UIM limits determine the coverage you provide to yourself and certain household relatives. It is very unfortunate to find out you only have a minimal amount of UM/UIM coverage after suffering a life-altering injury at the hands of a negligent driver who either has no insurance, or very little.

We have taken this opportunity to inform you of this extremely important information because most people do not realize it exists, nor do they realize the importance of it. It is our way of helping you protect yourself and those you care about. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call. We wish the best of health and happiness to you and your family and we look forward to accommodating any Legal Services you may need.

I was involved in a car accident that was not my fault. Getting the medical treatment I needed and the bills paid became a big problem.

  • Nick C. • New Jersey

On my way to store to buy a cell phone, I slipped and fell on snow and ice that was not cleared from the store's pathway. I had to have two surgeries on my shoulder.
